Shazam! Director Is Dying to Know Ant-Man's Fate In Avengers: Endgame

At the end of the recent, eagerly anticipated trailer for Avengers: Endgame, Paul Rudd's Scott Lang appears at Avengers headquarters, having somehow escaped from the Quantum Realm he found himself trapped in during the end-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp. We all want to know what's going on with Ant-Man, including apparently DC's Shazam! director David F. Sandberg. Take a look:

Like the rest of us (i.e. the world), David F. Sandberg is dying to know how Ant-Man got out of the Quantum Realm to wind up on the Avengers' doorstep. In fact, the DC director wants to know so much, Avengers: Endgame is the first movie he wants to watch in order to relax after the pressure and hustle and bustle of Shazam!'s release in April.

It's funny because I don't think many of us would cite Avengers: Endgame as the movie to watch in order to unwind. Other than the Ant-Man stinger at the end, the trailer for the film was emotional and bleak. It was also stressful and seemed way more likely to induce sweaty palms than feelings of relaxation. Although what David F. Sandberg is saying is that he simply can't relax until he has seen Avengers: Endgame and finds out Ant-Man's fate.

That's an understandable sentiment, as we are all eager to find out not only Ant-Man's fate but the fates of all of the MCU characters, alive and dead in the Phase 3 finale film. There really is no relaxing until we know what happens with Ant-Man, Cap, Hawkeye and all the rest and staving off death until we know is of paramount importance.

David F. Sandberg's response on Twitter shows that despite being the director of a DC film, he is as much a fan of the MCU and invested in its characters and storylines as the rest of us. He just likes to have a little bit of fun with the competition, like his recent post throwing shade at Captain Marvel, whose heroine bears the same name Shazam once did.

We don't know how exactly Scott Lang gets out of the Quantum Realm, whether its by using his own Ant-Man powers and the properties of the realm itself, or if Captain Marvel saves him along with possibly Tony, or something else entirely. But the fact that the trailer for Avengers: Endgame showed us that he does get out seems significant.

By putting Scott Lang, who wasn't in Avengers: Infinity War, at the end of the trailer, that would seem to indicate the he and how he got out of the Quantum Realm will play an important part in the endgame to defeat Thanos and bring back those snapped out of existence in the Decimation.

David F. Sandberg's Shazam! bolts into theaters on April 5, 2019, followed by Avengers: Endgame on April, 26, 2019. For those and all of the other movies hitting in a positively jam-packed year, check out our 2019 release schedule.
