New Star Wars: Galaxys Edge Video Shows Off The Incredible The Millennium Falcon Ride
The iconic spacecraft Han Solo and Chewie have long called home will soon to be piloted by Mickey ear-wearing Disney Park visitors when the new Star Wars-themed land, Galaxy's Edge, opens in Disneyland in summer 2019 and Walt Disney World in fall 2019. The centerpiece of Galaxy's Edge will be the ride, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, and now we have a closer look inside of what Disney goers can expect from the shiny new attraction. Take a look:
For Star Wars fans, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run is just the ride you're looking for. As Disney Imagineer Scott Trowbridge describes in the Disney Parks video, Smuggler's Run will allow riders to jump right into the cockpit of the Falcon and even control some of the components of the spacecraft. The video shows the ride in the action for the first time, showing it going into hyperspace and with switches being flipped and buttons pushed by those in the seats.
Up to four visitors will man (... or woman) the spacecraft, with folks taking the roles of pilot, gunner or flight engineer to operate the ship while the ride takes them through a fast and intense flight through space. The Millennium Falcon is the fastest ship in the galaxy and has often been the center of some exciting action sequences. Disney Parks looks to be bringing an incredibly immersive experience to theme park goers with Smuggler's Run and the new land as a whole.
In fact, on Smuggler's Run, depending on how riders do flying the Falcon results in a variety of outcomes, which is said to affect the visitor's experience around the land after the ride as well. This is new ground for Disney Parks to explore and will certainly add to making a visit to Galaxy's Edge unique each time fans step onto the land.
Besides, Smuggler's Run, Galaxy's Edge has another main attraction called Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance also featured in the new video. Rise of the Resistance will have riders finding themselves in the middle of a battle between the Resistance and the First Order, which looks to be built from actual sets and either animatronic characters or maybe real actors (it's unclear which) as Star Wars icons such as Kylo Ren.
Galaxy's Edge will be on a new planet called Batuu that will also feature a street market called Black Spire Outpost and a cantina reminiscent of the one where fans first met Han Solo in A New Hope, which will be Disneyland's first bar inside the parks -- yes, with alcohol. The land will also be blessed with the brilliance of John Williams, who has composed an original theme song for the land.
2019 looks to be quite the prime year for Star Wars fans as Galaxy's Edge soon lands at Disney Parks and Star Wars: Episode IX comes to theaters on December 20, 2019.
