Marvels Karen Gillan Is Teasing Fans About Avengers 4 Reshoots
With Avengers 4 reshoots in full swing ahead of its summer release, cryptic teasers from the talented cast and filmmakers are also emerging on social media. The upcoming installment will follow up Avengers: Infinity War, which left us with questions upon questions about what is next for the beloved MCU characters. Among them is Guardians of the Galaxy's Karen Gillan, who has played troubled assassin Nebula since 2014. The actress is the latest to take to social media to confirm her return to the Avengers 4 set, which looks to demand pretty early hours of her. Take a look:
Karen Gillan posted the above screenshot on her Instagram story, sharing her painful wake-up time of 4:30 a.m. and commenting that Nebula has some unfinished business with "Daddio" Thanos. While all the Avengers certainly have a beef to pick with Thanos after he snapped half of the universe out of existence, Nebula's business is definitely a personal one. Her adopted father has caused her physical and emotional damage throughout her life, as we especially learned in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. As the character revealed, Thanos would have Nebula and Gamora face one another in combat while they were growing up and would replace one of Nebula's organic parts with a mechanical one every time Gamora won the fight which was a lot.
In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos used Nebula to force Gamora to hand over the location of the Soul Stone by torturing her. Thanos' cruel tactics got to Gamora, as she led the villain to the stone and was then murdered by him. Since Nebula was one of the few characters to survive Thanos' snap, she will certainly be determined to take him down, along with the other Avengers. Nebula, however, is often fueled by rage and isn't known to follow a well thought out plan, so here's hoping she will think before acting this time instead of being a saboteur.
Along with reshoots, the Avengers 4 cast will also finish up their ending to the film that has yet to be given an official title or drop a trailer. For the members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, however, the fate of the franchise is a little blurry. Since the firing of director James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 based on some controversial tweets he penned almost a decade ago, the film has been put on an indefinite hold. Karen Gillan and the rest of the franchise's principal cast released an open letter to the studio, asking them to reverse their decision, but it didn't result in any further action on Disney's part.
We certainly don't want to imagine the possibility of Avengers 4 being Nebula's last appearance in the MCU due to the controversy. With the highly-anticipated film coming to theaters on May 3, 2019, hopefully she gets some much-needed justice on Thanos for her life of pain.
